Countdown to Invasion # 7

Aunty once remarked uncle is a farmer and not a gardener. Aunty made that remark because she thinks uncle grow for the sake of growing. There is no aesthetic element in his plants. Not wanting to kepit in the middle of love banter between uncle and aunty, I wisely refrain for commenting but seriously, I don't think the fruit will taste any sweeter if the tree is trimmed into a rabbit-bush shape. Maybe I am a farmer too haha.

Since hearing my eldest uncle growing beetroot, uncle decided to give it a try as well. Behold the beetroot veggie box.

I asked Uncle why the beetroot box so congested. He said," I thought the first time sowing was not successful so i put more seed, end up suddenly all sprout become like that." In a 4 season country, planting something is not as easy as just throwing a mango seed on the ground and it will sprout. There is sowing time according to the position of the sun and moon.

Beetroots are easy to harvest too. Unlike potatoes that grows into the soil, the beetroot poke out of the soil when it is ready to harvest. So it's very easy to tell.

Beetroots are anti cancer food, rich in vitamins and sells about AUD1 per biji. All in all, a good choice to grow this in our backyard. Taste yummy too!

Hopefully there are some leftovers when sisters are here.
